Jastin Action Cards

Jastin is one of just four heroes with healing ability plus an Effect card that can be used at the end of every turn as long as it remains on the cooldown track. Jastin also is the only hero with an Action card that can be treated as either a weapon or as an ability (thus if instructions for the mission state that heroes must discard (for the time being) all weapon cards, Jastin can keep the card by referring to it as an Ability card.

Hacker Drone

  • Card classification: Gear
  • Cooldown Track Slot: 1 (but since it is an ongoing effect, you likely want to play it in slot 4)
  • Dice: 1 die (but dice are not interconnected with the card’s action)

At the end of your turn, before the free rest action, you may interact with an object within a range of 3 for 2.

Since this is an EFFECT card, as long as it is on your cooldown track you gain the stated action after your turn. This card is interesting in that it lets you interact with any object within a range of 3 for 2 (the die is only used when the card is played, not subsequent turns while on the cool down track). No boosts available to begin with.

Comparing ISS Vanguard and Rogue Angels

Both ISS Vanguard and Rogue Angels are cooperative science fiction campaign games with a choose your own adventure feel. Both are excellent. ISS Vanguard is totally final now (I have both Wave 1 and Wave 2). Rogue Angels is still a prototype with the final expected in November 2024.

I thought it would be helpful to have a video showing the two games side by side. This hopefully will help you understand how they are similar as well as different.  If you already have ISS Vanguard you might be looking for another similar game to play next… and Rogue Angels just might be that game for you. If you don’t have either and are wondering which to get, this might let you see things in one or the other that fit your gaming style.

Here is the video. I will add some text below it soon (it is already almost 2am).

Information to help compare the games will be here below the video soon.

Invisible Individual

Only one of our heroes has cloaking ability. This is like going invisible while an enemy is attacking (they can’t see you so they can’t target you). Since this is an Effect card, you likely will want to play it to a higher cooldown track slot so it stays in effect longer.

Cloaking Suit

Hero: Gia – As long as this effect card is on your cooldown track, enemies cannot target you when they attack. Note that if you interact with something or deal any damage then this card must be removed from your cooldown track back into your hand.

Tabletopia AND Tabletop Simulator

For awhile now, Tabletop Simulator allowed you to play Rogue Angels.

Now you also can play Rogue Angels on Tabletopia:
=> Tabletopia

The Tabletopia team put together this digital version and will maintain it.

Meanwhile, Emil himself maintains the Tabletop Simulator (Steam) digital version:
=> Tabletop Simulator

The first three (out of six) chapters are available at both places.

Antathys Action Cards

Antathys has four Action cards that deal damage to the enemy (no other hero has more), plus one is an Effect card that takes effect as long as the card is on your cooldown track. The other Action is a healing card (only 4 heroes have healing cards).

Highlights for Antathys Action cards:

  • One of only four heroes with healing ability
  • Has the most damage dealing Action cards of all the heroes
  • Has an Effect card that takes effect at the end of your turn as long as it is on your cooldown track (before your free rest action, so it will take effect when in slot 1 before it slides off the track back into your hand)

Here are the five unique Action cards for Antathys:

Muscle Regeneration

  • Card classification: Ability
  • Cooldown Track Slot: 2
  • Dice: 2 dice (but dice are not interconnected with the card’s action)

Heal yourself for 1 damage and gain 1 shield, or Gain 2 Focus and “+2” to your next action this turn.

Play this card and you can remove 1 damage card from your cooldown track plus gain 1 shield. Or instead you can choose to play the card on your first action of your turn and get +2 on your next action as well as gain 2 Focus. No boosts available at the start of the campaign.

Jumping Jehoshaphat (Jumping Three)

Throughout the campaign there will be times when something is blocking your movement, but there is a note that it can be “jumped over”. This does NOT mean that any of the hero’s can simply jump over it. Only a hero with an Action card with a subcategory (jump) can do so! And there are only three heroes that begin the game with a “jump” Action card:

  1. Vera – Jet Pack is a Gear (Jump) card
  2. Sigyn – Enhanced Mech Legs is an Ability (Jump) card
  3. Talya – Jump and Run is an Ability (Jump) card

Note1: Also remember that you must count the square(s) that you are jumping over as part of your “jump” movement. You canNOT safely end your jump ON the thing that you are jumping over :) Well, you CAN end ON the thing you wanted to jump over, but landing on it will have you suffer it’s consequences.

Note2: Playing a “jump” Action card let’s you jump over enemies, allies, characters, barrels, crates and other things. Just not a wall or a closed door!

Jet Pack

Hero: VeraJet Pack lets her jump over things and for quite a distance as well (5 squares or even more with a good die roll). Note: you cannot jump over walls or closed doors.
