Gia Action Cards

Gia is the only hero that has cloaking ability that prevents enemy attacks. Gia also is the only hero with a variable damage weapon Action card that deals more damage based on the higher cooldown track it is placed in. Plus Gia has the only starting Action card that has you roll the most dice (4) of any card!

Highlights for Gia Action Cards:

  • Has an Effect Action card that is active as long as it is still on the cooldown track (so it is good to place it in the highest slot available so it will be available for more turns)
  • Has cloaking ability that prevents enemy attacks

Here are the five unique Action cards for Gia:

Cloaking Suit

  • Card classification: Gear (cloak)
  • Cooldown Track Slot: 2 (but higher is better)
  • Dice: 2 dice (not tied with the action)

Enemies cannot target you when they attack (only when they move plus other effects). You must return this card if you deal damage or interact with an object.

When playing this card roll 2 dice (not tied to this action but shields and movement rolled can be used). As long as the card remains in your cooldown track, the cloaking ability is enabled. However, if you ever interact with an object or deal any damage, this card is removed from the cooldown track and returns to your hand. These boosts are available only when the card is played:

  • Yellow token: Roll one die (shields and movement can be used)
  • Blue token: Two allies each gain 1 focus

(VC59) Co-op Guild (one minute clip)

Another video from Co-op Guild as an overview of Rogue Angels. Comments this time (in this clip) include: Dice are NO FAIL dice. There is not a miss. You might not get what you want, but you get something. Many different unique characters.

Bassilus Action Cards

Bassilus is the only hero that starts with two Action cards with 1 for the cooldown track slot specification. One is an Effect type action card that has an on going “good” effect as long as it remains in the cooldown track, so when played, you actually may wish to place it in the 4 slot so it would be available to you over several turns.

Highlights for Bassilus Action cards:

  • One of just two heroes that have grenades

Here are the five unique Action cards for Bassilus:

High Impact Grenade

  • Card classification: Weapon (explosive)
  • Cooldown Track Slot: 4
  • Dice: 1 die (not tied with the action)

Choose a square within a range of 6 and deal 2 unblockable damage to all objects within a range of 1 of the chosen square.

Remember that range 1 includes diagonals to the chosen square, so the explosion area will be a 3×3 square (of 9 map squares) which is quite an extensive area. Plus, you can use a grenade to blow up a fuel barrel, and the barrel’s explosion will do further damage! Two boosts are available:

  • Green token: place in cooldown track 3 instead of 4
  • Blue token: place in cooldown track 3 instead of 4

Hero Special Abilities

Each hero has one special ability that can be used during game play (and actually Tarira and Sigyn have TWO special abilities each). These special abilities can be essential during critical times in the game. Most heroes can use their special abilities many times throughout the mission… but not ALL of the heroes! Gia’s special ability kicks in only at the start of a new mission and will give you one free personality token of your choice for each scar received during prior missions. Tarira gets one extra action on ONE turn (and only one turn per mission). And Sigyn is the exception with one of her two special abilities removing her ability to concentrate (thus has three rerolls for the entire mission).

Now, let’s take a quick look at each hero and their unique special ability:

LoS is part of “2 spaces away”

Here is a wonderfully worded AND illustrated question from the Facebook Group from Andy Scott who said I could share it here (thank you Andy).

Actually, I had the same question but never thought to ask (I was just playing it wrong:)

Here is the section of Vera’s character sheet that displays her special ability:

By requiring Line of Sight (LoS) it actually helps Vera get those free rerolls! From the illustration above you can see that Vera IS within two squares of Hiro and would not get a free reroll. However, the blue wall is blocking her line of sight, so when counting squares, she would need to count squares that get her into Line of Sight … either 3 or 4 squares away from Hiro. The top route for counting is 1, 2, (3 Hiro). The route going down is even longer at 1, 2, 3, (4 Hiro).

Hiro’s special ability also references being more than 2 squares away (which lets him move 2 extra squares for his basic move AND 2 moves with his Basic Interact):

Which Hero is Your Type?

About three weeks ago I went through some of the various aspects for each of the sixteen heroes that are available in Rogue Angels. One thing to consider when choosing your hero for a campaign is their starting personality! As the game progresses, that personality will continually be upgraded, expanded, enhanced or simply changed based on your choices in the game (and even if missions succeed or fail).

However … if you like a particular personality trait for your hero right from the very start, look over each of the 16 heroes because they each start with SOME personality trait(s). Well, there is one exception. Xalia starts with a clean slate in the personality quadrant… none of the quadrants has a mark pre-filled for Xalia!

Here is a link to the article that covers the starting personalities of each hero as well as the ones with the most shields and focus (and even scar ability):
