Will It Fit On My Table?

And the answer to that question is: Most likely, YES! It WILL fit on YOUR table! :)

One of the many nice things about Rogue Angels is that four people can play the game around a normal sized card table (33 inch square). [this is NOT the case with many/most other legacy games]

Note: Rogue Angels is still a prototype and things might change in the final game.

To see if everything will fit around YOUR table, you could cut out some paper placeholders and then set them on your table to see how they will fit.

YES, I actually have done that for some games before ordering (or pledging for) them. Here is an article I wrote trying to figure out how many people could play the game Doomlings around various kinds of tables (and, yes, I had a prototype for Doomlings too:). For a simple card game, Doomlings took up A LOT OF SPACE!
=> My article on fitting Doomlings on tables

Most important with Rogue Angels: The main map and Ship Box map will need to be on the table; likely at the top of the table or near the center of the table. Space needed is 24 inches by 12 inches.

Players can sit below, above or to the side of the maps and need only a small amount of space for their character board and cards played on their cooldown track. Space needed is 10 inches wide 8 inches high per player.

Players may want to keep the Player Aid Reference Card next to their Character Board. The card is a standard size card (64mm x 89mm). I kept one in between the two character boards I was using, but rarely needed to actually refer to it. The game flow is quite easy and straight forward once you see how it works.

You will also need space to roll dice, but I just ordered a small personal dice tower that takes up only 3.8 inches by 2.2 inches and could be set on top of a card just to roll the dice (easily rolls 4 D6 dice).

Here is Rogue Angels on a standard sized card table setup for 4 players:

Of course, there are other ways to orient the players on the table, but this would work well and the top of the table could even be up against the wall :)

As you play through the campaign, someone will need to keep track of your progress in the Campaign Book. There will be narration to read aloud, and all the players can share in this. And throughout the game, the Campaign Book will tell you when to change your main map, add the Ship Box map, add or remove objects on the map and so on. I never kept the book ON the table, but had it on a chair right next to me. The book is 12 inches by 9 inches.

Other things you need to have available can be off to the side on a chair or on the floor or on the table if your table is bigger. Rogue Angels will adjust to best fit your situation. Other components to keep near by:

  • Bag of interact tokens: when needed, a person just holds the bag and pulls out one token at a time
  • Deck of Enemy Behavior Cards: not needed on the table! Once there is an enemy on the board, you find the appropriate EBC to place somewhere on your table that specifies how the enemy units will behave (ie, move and inflict damage). It is a large sized card: 120mm x 80mm
  • Deck of Damage cards: the deck needs to be nearby so that when a player gets injured, they can take the specific card required. Cards are normal poker/bridge size cards: 64mm x 89mm
  • Some game components can easily remain in the game box until needed:
    • Various map tiles
    • Various object and enemy standees
    • Various tokens
    • Rulebook (8.5 inches by 12 inches)
