Only 270 copies left

Yesterday Emil commented in a forum that there were only 300+ copies of the game left and that he expected them to sell out over the holidays.

So……… if you are interested in this game, you should go pledge for it now before they are sold out.

Update December 31, 2024: About 270 copies are available before it is sold out.

Official Update (35 / 14)

=> Kickstarter Update #35
=> Gamefound Update #14 (should be the same)

16 hero miniatures

Highlights:

Summary: Very productive month. New maps. Moving forward on digital production. Moving forward towards manufacturing.

  1. Most illustrations have already been completed, but world building maps are still being created by Przemek Kozlowski

    Ice world and Reaver platforms

To ease the pressure on Przemek, NextMars is now on board attempting to create maps with a similar style to Przemek:

    Strange world and Military installation

  2. To help with writing the story [there is a LOT of story, and it is quite interesting so far in the prototype – Len] Emil is learning LaTeX and Python … and now he can make significant changes and additions to the story in the campaign books keeping everything in sync!

This allowed Emil to get the first three chapters into a ready to review form. They are available online here (530 pages) … WARNING: Huge Spoilers if you look at them:
=> Rogue Angels Dropbox / Rogue Angels Dropbox rules/campaign books folder
    Example pages:

If you would like to read through the story for Emil (ie, proofreading), please get in touch with him.
NOTE: the first 530 pages (Chapters 1-3) are now also available via the Rogue Angels mod on Tabletop Simulator
The next two chapters (4-5) should be ready in about a week. A select few will get access to Chapter 6 for a read through :)

Overview, Setup, Strategy and Playthrough Mission C2

I tried to make these videos kind of a tutorial on how to play Rogue Angels and win without firing a shot! :)

Overview and Setup:

Strategy (note that there are TWO ways to succeed in this mission and this strategy is only applicable to success by being sneaky:) :

Playthrough (note that if you play aggressively to destroy the enemies, your game play will be nothing like this, so this won’t be a spoiler for you at all:)

When your mission ends, sometimes it will be extended or continued. Sometimes on that same map, other times on a different map. Don’t reset or change anything unless told otherwise. Here is how the mission update works using mission C2 into update 1:

Next I played through the UPDATE 1A mission for C2:

Intro video for Mission C2 (second mission)

Here is my intro to the 2nd main mission in Rogue Angels (from Campaign Book Chapter One). I am trying to figure out how to do a nice tutorial for this C2 mission as it is a great mission to use for a tutorial. I think I can do it turn by turn with one short video for each turn. Then just merge them all into one larger video to post to YouTube. However … I am having lots of difficulties in finding a way to do this that is not complex :)

Here is my first attempt … can you tell that I merged three videos into this one larger video?

Estimated box size

For those interested … the box size for the final game still has not been determined, but the latest estimate from the game developer (Emil) makes it to be a little wider, little deeper and taller than the prototype box that I have:

The prototype box dimensions are:

17 inches wide
12 inches deep
2 1/4 inches high

The final game will need to hold more components than the prototype, so of course it will be bigger. For example, the final map should be the same size and the enemy standees basically the same. I think twice as many dice. A bit more cards (I think 5 more for each of the 16 heroes). But there will be six campaign books (only one in the prototype). Also the enemy bases will be a custom designed rotating base to track hit points, so maybe 24 of those instead of the plain plastic standee bases in the prototype. And there will be 16 hero miniatures (these likely will add the most space needed for the box – but won’t add to it’s weight like the extra books will).

On September 11, 2024, the game designer (Emil) provided an estimate (not final) size for the box. Compared to the prototype box it will be:

2 inches wider
2 inches deeper
3 1/2 inches taller

This latest estimate in metric is 500 x 360 x 150mm. This estimated size will provide proper safe storage, easy access, and ability to sleeve components.

Enemies in Rogue Angels compared to Mass Effect the Board Game

It’s hard to make a video all by yourself:)

But I tried! I used a small tripod. But often I needed to show things on the maps, so I had to pick up the whole tripod and try to point it at the right spot on the map (usually I got it right… but I missed a bit once:)

That said … here’s my overview of the enemies in the two Mass Effect style games:
